Thomas D. Valle, P.E. recently attended the 88th Annual Water Environment Federation’s Technical Exhibition & Conference (WEFTEC) in Chicago, Illinois. WEFTEC is the largest meeting of its kind in North America and is recognized as the world’s largest annual water quality exhibition with every major (and many smaller) manufacturers present.

Thousands of water and wastewater professionals attend WEFTEC to learn, network, find out about products and services and earn continuing education credit and PDH hours. Cutting edge technical sessions and workshops address topics including collection systems, resource recovery, nutrients and energy, plant operations, treatment management, regulations and research, residuals and biosolids, stormwater management, water recycling and more.

On September 15, 2015, Wm. Mack Parker, P.E., CFM attended the full day technical seminar in Mesquite, Texas presented by the Cement Council of Texas that detailed the Means Methods and technologies involved with stabilization of street subgrade materials and street reclamation of roadway base materials using Portland Cement.

On September 2-4, 2015, KPA staff attended the Texas Floodplain Management Association’s (TFMA) Fall Conference in Houston, Texas. KPA staff who attended included David R. Patrick, P.E., Alvin R. “Trae” Sutton, III, P.E., Mack Parker, P.E., John Simcik, P.E., and Michael Newman, P.E. TFMA is an organization of professionals involved in floodplain management, flood hazard mitigation, Nation Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), flood preparedness, potential flood awareness, flood early warning and disaster recover. The Fall Conference provided workshops, field trips, conference sessions, technical seminars for continued education credits/certification requirements, networking opportunities and social events. On August 25, 2015, the bridge slab for West 9th Avenue Extension and Overpass Construction Project in Belton, Texas was placed from 12:01 am through 8:45 am over Nolan Creek. This is a $4.15 million public street, bridge, drainage and pedestrian/bike infrastructure project funded by the City of Belton, The Texas Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.

 

On August 17, 2015 the Lorena City Council selected KPA as their City Engineer. Under the arrangement, KPA will provide general consulting services which will include review of private development plans, city ordinances, engineering analyses, and preliminary investigations as issues arise within the operations of the City. KPA has been providing general engineering services to numerous communities/cities in Central Texas for more than 30 years. KPA does not contract directly with private developers which eliminates any possible conflicts of interest and provides City’s with transparent engineering representation.

Tolbert, P.E.Mrs. Tolbert has been with the firm for 15 years. She is responsible for the planning and design of water and wastewater projects, utility master planning, utility rate studies, reclaimed water systems, project management and construction administration. Ginger offices in our Temple location.

Professionally, Ginger has served as Branch President and Section Director of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). She is on the Board of Directors and is Past President of the Central Texas Chapter of Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE), has served as Scholarship Chair for the Central Texas Chapter of the Texas Public Works Association and is a member in the American Water Works Association and Water Environment Federation. She was the recipient of the TSPE Engineer of the Year Award in 2010.

Ginger is also active in several community organizations. She is a Past President of Altrusa International, Inc. of Temple and was named Altrusan of the Year in 2008. Ginger is a graduate of Leadership Temple and is a volunteer for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where she serves as a senior committeeman for the McLennan County Go Texan Committee. Ginger is also a member of the Greater Temple Area A&M Club and volunteer for the Bruceville-Eddy Mayfest.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

Trae SuttonMr. Sutton has been with the firm for 13 years. He is responsible for the planning and design of transportation projects, pedestrian facilities, hydrologic and hydraulic studies, drainage projects, water and wastewater projects, project management and construction administration. Trae manages our Georgetown Office Operations.

Professionally, Trae has served as President and Director for the Central Texas Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Trae served as the MathCounts Coordinator for 8 years for the Central Texas Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE), Region II MathCounts State Representative and as the 2009-2010 State MathCounts Chair for the Texas Section. Trae was the recipient of the TSPE Engineer of the Year Award in 2008.

Trae is also active in several community organizations. He is a current member of the Rotary Club of Georgetown and is a past president of the Belton Rotary Club. Trae is a graduate of Leadership Belton and has served on the Board of Directors for the Belton Area Chamber of Commerce and was the 2010 Chairman of the Board. In 2010, Trae was recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award presented by the Belton Chamber.

web page picsKPA celebrated its 30 Year Anniversary on September 25, 2013 with an Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at our new Georgetown Office. In December 2012 KPA relocated its Georgetown Office to the Downtown District.

This new Downtown Office Building provides for a viable asset in allowing KPA to accomplish its goal for providing engineering services to the South Central Texas area. Our goal is not to be the biggest or most profitable engineering firm in the area. Our goal is to be the best engineering firm and profits will follow. Our new Downtown Georgetown Office will provide a place of work where people can continue to experience technical innovation, be aware of their mission to society and apply advanced technology to the life of the general public.

Jake BlairKPA Engineers is pleased to welcome Jake L. Blair, EIT to our staff. Mr. Blair received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University in December 2012.

Jake served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Texas A&M University from September 2011 to December 2012. He worked under Dr. Gary Fry in the Center for Railway Research where he participated in construction and data analysis of strain gauges used for estimating the high and low impacts of ships and waves on Port Aransas docking areas. Other projects included material analysis for different types of metals and database preparation.

Jake also worked for the Highway Safety Division at Texas A&M Transportation Institute in summer of 2012 where he performed modeling and structural analysis for crash test vehicles and road signage.

Jake will join KPA’s civil design team in our Temple Office.

In Fall of 2012 KPA became the Owner of the recently renovated historic building located on 1008 South Main Street in Downtown Georgetown, Texas. This two story executive type building was historically known as the Sherman Hotel dating back to 1920.

Renovation of this historical building included Historic Preservation and Green Building practices in order to maximize the full potential of the project, both from its’ historical character and new environmental features. The building is the first of its kind in the area and KPA is proud to be part of the redevelopment of the Downtown District.
