Simcik, PE, CFM attended a HEC-RAS 2D Modeling Seminar on March 7th in Arlington, TX.  It was a full day of learning both theory and practical use of the HEC-RAS 2D Hydraulic Modeling software.  This software analyzes the flow of water in multiple directions and can be applied to watershed modeling to better delineate areas that would be subject to flooding during design storm events.

 

KPA is proud to announce the addition of Camryn Bintz to our staff as new Business Accounting Manager. Ms. Bintz received her Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2016.

Camryn gained experience by working at R.T. Schneider while going to school at UMHB as well as other various jobs after graduating. Camryn is also working toward one day being a Certified Public Accountant.

 

On Friday, September 7, 2018, John A. Simcik, PE, CFM and Wm. Mack Parker, PE, CFM attended an awards ceremony and reception held for the City of Belton at Abel’s on the Lake in Austin, TX. The City of Belton received the Central Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association Transportation Planning Award for the recently completed Sparta Road Roundabout Project which was designed by KPA.

KPA Temple Staff and family members enjoyed an evening of bowling, fun and games at Spare Time in Temple on August 9th, 2018. Many participated in bowling, laser tag and arcade games.

Our Georgetown Staff and family members also enjoyed an evening out at the Round Rock Express game at Dell Diamond Stadium in Round Rock on May 31st, 2018.

 

 

On August 29th – 31st, 2018, R. David Patrick, PE, Alvin R. Sutton, III, PE, John A. Simcik, PE, Wm. Mack Parker, PE, Michael C. Newman, PE and Gail M. Lollis, PE attended the Texas Floodplain Management Association’s (TFMA) Fall Conference in San Antonio, Texas. TFMA is an organization of professionals involved in floodplain management, flood hazard mitigation, Nation Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), flood preparedness, potential flood awareness, flood early warning and disaster recover. The Conference provided workshops, field trips, conference sessions and technical seminars for continued education credits/certification requirements. Mr. Patrick, Mr. Sutton, Mr. Simcik, Mr. Parker, Mr. Newman and Mrs. Lollis are Certified Floodplain Manager’s (CFM). KPA is proud to announce the addition of Kevin A. Villalba, CAD Technician, to our staff. Mr. Villalba received a degree in Architectural and Engineering Computer Aided Design with Civil Specialization from Austin Community College in June 2017.

Mr. Villalba interned with Sanchez Engineering for three months in 2015 and with Kimley-Horn & Associates for eight months in 2017.

Kevin will office in our Georgetown location and we are excited to welcome him to KPA’s team.

The Knights of Columbus Council 3444 Temple held the 50th Law Enforcement Appreciation Banquet on Monday, April 30th, 2018 at the Knights of Columbus hall in Temple.  An officer from each law enforcement department is nominated to receive the award of Outstanding Officer of the Year in their department.  Then one officer is selected as Outstanding Officer of East Bell County.  This year’s Outstanding Officer of East Bell County is DPS Trooper Thomas P. Nipper who was killed in the line of duty in November 2017.  The award was presented to his widow along with DPS Troopers from the Temple office.  We thank all of our law enforcement personnel for their service as well as their families who support them.  KPA sponsored the award for Outstanding DPS Trooper and has provided all the coordination and administration support for this event since the late 1990’s.

Rick N. Kasberg, P.E., Thomas D. Valle, P.E. and Ginger R. Tolbert, P.E. attended the Texas Water Conference April 24-26, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. Texas Water is a four day conference held by both the Water Environment Association of Texas and the Texas Section American Water Works Association (AWWA). At the conference Mr. Kasberg, Mr. Valle, and Mrs. Tolbert attended many technical sessions related to wastewater collection, water distribution and treatment processes.

R. David Patrick, P.E., CFMOn February 22, 2018, David Patrick, PE, CFM was named the Engineer of the Year by the Central Texas Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers at their Annual Awards Banquet. David is a Principal with Kasberg, Patrick & Associates, LP (KPA Engineers) and has been practicing engineering since 1992. His engineering experience includes project management, design, preparation of construction plans and specifications, and construction administration for transportation, storm drainage, detention facilities, streets, bridges, rail, water and wastewater collection systems, drainage analysis and watershed investigations. He has extensive knowledge and experience in developing master plans for Business and Industrial Parks including Site Certification of Industrial Properties for Municipalities. In 1997, as Project Manager, David completed the Highway 183 project in Austin, Texas. The project spanned over three miles. At the time it was the largest segmental bridge in the continental United States. David has provided expert witness services for dispute resolution between municipalities and other parties. He has worked with many communities in Central and South Central Texas including Economic Development Corporations and Tax Reinvestment Zones. David is currently serving as the Principal in Charge and Project Manager for the Temple Crossroads Park Sports Complex and Civil Site Work related to the Santa Fe Plaza Projects. These two projects combined include over $50 Million in Infrastructure Improvements.

David is a Professional Engineer licensed in the State of Texas and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A & M University in 1992. David is active in the American Society of Civil Engineers and Texas Society of Professional Engineers. He was named Young Engineer of the Year in Central Texas in 2004 by the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and served as Chapter President of the Central TX Chapter TSPE in 2002-2003. He is also a licensed Certified Floodplain Manager.

David has served on the Board of Directors for the Temple Chamber of Commerce, is an active Board Member on the Temple Industrial Foundation and a member of Temple Lions Club. He currently serves as a committee member on the “254DOWN” for the City of Temple Downtown Revitalization Efforts.
