Santa Fe Plaza Named “Best Downtown Public Improvement” in Texas

Santa Fe Plaza was designed to bring a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere to Downtown Temple, and it has done just that. This $38 million redevelopment has allowed for numerous Downtown festivities and the addition of the 34,000 square feet Santa Fe Business Center. The multi-functional plaza has brought an abundant amount of opportunities to the area by adding 300 jobs to Temple. This massive project also included the development of the 3-acre Santa Fe Market, which is home to a food court pavilion, garden, an open lawn, and pavilion. Santa Fe Plaza also included the redesign and layout of Avenue A, Avenue B, 5th Street, 7th Street, 9th Street, and parking along these streets. A pedestrian path was included to allow for easy access between the plaza and the Santa Fe Market. Santa Fe Plaza has become the location of many Downtown activities such as Hot Summer Sounds, something Temple residents have come to love.
The Santa Fe Plaza and Market Trail was recently awarded for its grand developments by being named the “Best Downtown Public Improvement” in Texas. This award highlights how Santa Fe Plaza has assisted in the revitalization of Downtown Temple and contributed to the growth of Temple. Santa Fe Plaza has become a place for people to enjoy themselves, while also allowing them to see Temple’s rich heritage illustrated throughout the design. It has boosted the quality of life for residents, making people want to live, work, and play in Temple, Texas.
Scope of Services: Opinion of Probable Cost, Final Design, Civil Design, Right of Way Preparation, TCEQ Permitting, TxDOT Permitting, Bidding, Review of Bids and Recommendation of Award Contract, Construction Administration, On-Site Representation, Design Surveys, and Metes and Bounds.
KPA also coordinated with various sub-consultants for Environmental Services, Geotechnical Services, Landscape Design, and Electrical Design aspects of the project.
