Progress on the MLK Festival Grounds Improvements Project
Temple, TX
The MLK Festival Grounds signage has been installed!
In addition to the new signs, two buildings along Avenue C have been renovated and the corresponding parking facilities have been completed. One of the rehabilitated buildings, formerly Farmers Feed & Seed Co., received a new mural which is a replica of the 100-year-old faded version displayed on the side of the building. The newly rehabilitated building will be available for staff and entertainers and is complete with a kitchen and restrooms. Meanwhile, the second renovated building will provide additional storage for the festival grounds.
Overhead electricity will be converted to underground electricity, which will provide a clean landscape featuring a large open area that our community will be able to enjoy for festivals and gatherings. This project also incorporates the City’s Santa Fe Market Trail, connecting downtown Temple to the festival grounds.
As a proud designer for this project, KPA has developed the preliminary and final designs for the underground electrical conversion and the civil design for the new parking facilities. In addition, KPA has provided bidding services, construction administration, and on-site representation for these developments.
