Project Description: Preliminary engineering for this Carrizo Aquifer water supply project began in 1999 to supply up to 28 million gallons per day to the Cities of Schertz and Seguin in Guadalupe County. Final design was completed in March 2001 and construction was completed in February 2003 at a total project cost of $51 million. This project included construction of more than 42 miles of water supply line ranging in size from 30-inch to 42-inch diameter pipe and approximately 6 miles of well collection water line ranging in size from 12-inch to 20-inch.
Additionally, construction included a Water Treatment Plant, Main Pump Station, Booster Pump Station, two 2,000,000 Gallon Ground Storage Tanks and six Water Supply Wells. The wells, water treatment plant, water plant ground storage tank and main pump station are located in Gonzales County.
Scope of Services: Services provided include preliminary design, coordination of cultural resource clearance, preparation of plans, specifications and easement documents, permits from Texas Department of Transportation, Gonzales and Guadalupe Counties, Railroad, Texas Historical Commission, Corps of Engineers, and the General Land Office, as well as construction administration. Approximately 180 easements were acquired for pipe line right-of-way.
