Completion of Georgetown’s San Gabriel Lift Station

Georgetown, TX

Georgetown’s San Gabriel Lift Station is complete! The new standalone submersible lift station replaced the existing Park Lift Station, which had deteriorated pumps, piping, and metal supports within the station’s wet well area. The project also included a new 20-inch force main extension connecting the existing force main and a chopper/aerator pump in the current wet well upstream of the recent wet well to mitigate clogging and reduce odor emissions. The pumps at San Gabriel Lift Station are submersible, located in the water of the wet well, similar to a sump pump in a home.

The new San Gabriel Lift Station is officially complete and fully operational! This new standalone submersible lift station is essential to ensure our wastewater is safely transported to our wastewater treatment facility.

In our wastewater collection system, lift stations are placed at low points where gravity no longer allows wastewater to flow. Once the wastewater reaches these low points, it is then “lifted” to higher ground, so it can flow downhill again through the system.
